I frequently think back to where this all started and I want to share with you all how it came about. We all dream, but getting a dream to reality can be daunting. When I first came up with the idea for The Darkness of Ragnarokk I never envisaged what a mammoth task it was going to turn out to be.
My husband and I had only been married a couple of weeks when, on his day off I asked him if I could speak to him about something. He looked at me as if to ask ‘what have I done?’ Which I admit I found quite funny at the time. After reassuring him there was nothing wrong I told him about an idea I had for a Computer game. His response surprised me telling me that it was brilliant and that I should speak to somebody about it. May I just say that having him believe in me has been the crux of my determination in making this happen.
I was careful to whom I spoke to. Ensuring it was someone I could trust who knew the field in which it pertained. I was amazed at the response I got. As asked, I got together a more detailed file. That was three years ago. From there it has been a roller coaster of a ride. The first thing to tackle was to protect my idea by trade marking and copyrighting it. Having given time and attention to the protagonist Deena Kross, chosen characters and the bare basics of the story line I began to challenge the workload involved. I hand drew each character creation and designed the mission map detailing Its location, buildings, geographical detail, underground tunnels and a labyrinth. With this done it was on to achievements and skill levels as well as combination defences and weapons. This also gave the trigger points ready for the development and build of the game. Having realised at this point that this was turning out to be a big project I gave myself five years to get everything ready before going for investment. Crossing the T’s and dotting the I’s as far as I possibly can.
At this moment in time, I am writing the story line and I am so excited about it. The story behind the game is original and follows what will be the game play quite closely. At present, I am 44 chapters in and nearing the end. I am a little sad at the prospect that this story will soon be complete as I have enjoyed every moment of writing it. I feel as though I have lived it alongside Deena Kross. Issue eleven will be coming out soon so watch out for its release.
Three years in to a five year project and I am on target. This is all thanks to the handful of people (you know who you are) that have believed in me and encouraged me to keep going. Not forgetting of course the amazing people who are following the progress of what I am doing. A big thank you to you all for the support, I couldn’t do it without you.
I chose the image above as I felt a relevance to this post. She is the succubus and plays a part in the game play. An entity of demonic proportions that infiltrates your dreams by lulling you in to a false sense of security by using her sexuality before paralysing you and taking your soul.
We all have dreams and no matter how difficult it gets at times, allowing self doubt and obstacles to get our way will inevitably prevent them from fruition.
